38 toll plazas to be digitized in Punjab

Punjab Communication and Works Department (C&WD) has decided to digitize 38 toll plazas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

This was decided in an important meeting chaired by Provincial Minister for Works and Communications Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath.

A briefing was given in the meeting on digitizing 38 toll plazas in 24 districts.

Officers of the C&W Department briefed the provincial minister.

In the first phase, Samundri and Katwala toll plazas will be digitized as a pilot project, Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath said.

The Minister said one toll plaza in Attock, three in Bahawalpur and two in Khushab will be digitized. 

He said one toll plaza in Gujarat, one in Chakwal and three in Sargodha will be digitized.

Two in Murree, one each in Okara and Layyah will be digitized.

Toll plazas of Lodhran one, Multan one, Muzaffargarh two, Mianwali one, Narowal one, Hafizabad two and Khanewal one will also become digitized.

Chiniot 3, Faisalabad 3, Jhang 3, Toba Tek Singh 1, Sahiwal 2, Vehari 1 and Gujranwala 1 toll plaza will also be digital.

Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharat said steps are being taken towards electronic toll collection. Vehicles will also be verified through an automated system. Toll collection will be done through e-tech. 

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif's Digital Punjab vision is being implemented. 

C&W is working day and night for development and progress.
