Lahore ranks world’s second most polluted city with AQI at 187

The provincial capital city continued to battle worsening smog conditions on Saturday as the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) reached 187, making Lahore the second most polluted city in the world, 24NewsHD TV reported.

According to data from air monitoring stations, several areas of the city recorded hazardous pollution levels.

The Revenue Employees Cooperative Society area topped the list with an AQI of 232, followed by City School Allama Iqbal Town at 227, City School Ravi Campus at 217, and Diamond Paint Industries at 221.

Environmental experts have urged citizens to wear masks, avoid unnecessary outdoor activities, and take precautionary measures to minimize exposure to harmful pollutants.

Health officials also warned that prolonged exposure to smog could lead to respiratory illnesses, eye irritation, and throat infections, particularly among children and the elderly.
