Veteran actress Atiqa Odho has taken fans on a nostalgic journey back to the golden era of Pakistani television with a heartfelt throwback from the iconic 1993 drama Nijaat, featuring legendary names Nauman Ijaz and Sahira Kazmi.
Taking to Instagram, Atiqa Odho shared a vintage photograph featuring herself alongside veteran actor Nauman Ijaz and legendary director Sahira Kazmi. The actress reflected on the memories attached to the photograph, describing it as a reminder of an unforgettable chapter in her television career.
“Some photographs have a way of taking us back in time,” Atiqa wrote while sharing the picture.
The actress went on to recall the days of Nijaat, the classic PTV drama that aired in 1993. She expressed gratitude for having worked with Sahira Kazmi and Nauman Ijaz, describing the experience as a special part of her journey in television.
“A beautiful throwback to the unforgettable days of PTV’s classic drama Nijaat, which aired in 1993,” she wrote, adding that sharing the frame with the “immensely talented” Sahira Kazmi and the “wonderful” Nauman Ijaz brought back memories of a memorable period in her career.
Atiqa also thanked the people and experiences that helped shape her journey, saying she remains grateful for the journey, the people and the beautiful memories associated with those days.
Directed by Sahira Kazmi and written by Asghar Nadeem Syed, Nijaat became one of the notable dramas of PTV’s golden era. The 1993 serial explored the lives of women in rural and urban settings while highlighting social issues including family planning, child labour and community health.
Atiqa Odho played Sajida in the drama, while Nauman Ijaz portrayed Huzoor Bakhsh. Sahira Kazmi directed the 13-episode serial.
With her latest throwback, Atiqa has once again reminded fans of the memorable era of Nijaat and the people who became part of her early television journey.
