Two Israeli soldiers were killed after a small explosive drone operated by the Israeli military crashed and exploded at a military post in northern Gaza, according to the Israeli military.
The drone was reportedly being used in an operation against a Hamas target.
However, it crashed inside the Israeli military post while being prepared for another flight.
According to The Times of Israel, the two soldiers were identified as 24-year-old Master Sgt. Nadav Kali and 23-year-old Master Sgt. Ofek Moalem.
Both were serving with the Jerusalem Brigade’s 7007th Battalion.
The military said the soldiers were operating FPV drones known as “Atlaf.”
The drone had completed its first mission but crashed for an unknown reason while being launched for a second mission.
The Israeli military says 968 of its soldiers have been killed since the war in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, including 472 who died in fighting inside Gaza. Hundreds more have been wounded.
