Reduction in crime rate in Islamabad top priority, says Interior Minister Naqvi

After Punjab, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that reducing the crime rate in Islamabad is a top priority, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media after visiting Public Facilitation Center in the federal capital on Friday, Mohsin Naqvi said that if crime can be brought down by 30 percent in Punjab, then it can be brought down in Islamabad as well.

The Interior Minister said that IG Islamabad does not sleep or let anyone sleep. “I am the son-in-law of a martyr, the families of martyrs are the first priority and all their problems will be solved,” he added.

Mohsin Naqvi said, overbilling problem is also included in the priorities, the more electricity you use, the more the bill will come.

He further said that Shahbaz Sharif is like an elder brother and I always had a good relationship with him, said Mohsin Naqvi.

He said the news regarding his relationship with the Prime Minister is baseless and those who are desirous of his bad relations with the PM will be disappointed.

Mohsin Naqvi said that work has been started for the establishment of forensic laboratory and a prison in the federal capital. He said police stations of the capital will be transformed within three to four months. He said a criteria will be put in place for the registration of FIRs. He said the Safe City project will be further upgraded.

The Interior Minister said a proposal is being sent to the federal government for recruitment of two thousand police personnel in Islamabad. He said this strength is also required to further enhance the security of Chinese nationals.

Mohsin Naqvi said the Public Facilitation Center will remain functional round the clock. He said this facilitation centre is providing 28 services including those related to excise and traffic.

Earlier, while talking to media men at the Parliament House Islambad, the Interior Minister said an effective strategy is being worked out for the security of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.

He said additional measures are being taken on war-footing for the security of the Chinese nationals.

The Interior Minister said a decision will soon be taken to initiate an action against illegal Afghan nationals. He said extension of three months has been given to the card holder Afghans.

Mohsin Naqvi said it is our desire to provide on arrival visa facility to the Sikhs.

Meanwhile, the interior minister said that he has decided to change the condition of police stations of Islamabad.

In this regard Mohsin Naqvi said that we will be accompanied by the same officers who will hold our speed.

Interior Minister said that all the police stations of Islamabad have to improve.

“Never ordered the police to misbehave with women because I believe in sanctity of women”, Mohsin Naqvi said.

Mohsin Naqvi said that we have started work on the security of Chinese residents on an emergency basis.

National Counter Terrorism Authority (NECTA) will be fully operational, Federal Interior Minister said.

He said that Citizens are getting passports with a delay of five months.
