Hundreds of govt employees’ wives found receiving BISP funds; salary deductions begin

More than 600 spouses of government employees have reportedly been found receiving funds from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the channel report, the families of employees working in departments including police, health, education, SCARP, HESCO and irrigation were among those who benefited from the programme.

Following the findings, authorities have initiated recovery measures through salary deductions from the concerned employees.

According to details, more than Rs631,000 has been deducted from 38 police personnel, while over Rs729,000 has been recovered from 45 SCARP employees.

In addition, Rs252,000 has been deducted from 15 employees of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, while more than Rs685,000 has been recovered from 42 irrigation department staff members.

The report further states that deductions have also been made from the salaries of 14 executive engineers and 17 teachers, with recovery continuing across multiple departments.

The action has reportedly caused concern among government employees as investigations and recovery efforts expand.
