A youth, rescued from the clutches of human smugglers in Cambodia, narrated harrowing details to 24News TV channel programme host Rehan Tariq, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In an interview with Rehan, Shoaib Riyasat said that he planned to go abroad after having done his Fsc from Sheikhupura.
He informed that he tried to get visas for Saudi Arabia and Dubai, but in vain.
Later, he added, a man came to his father who told him that he could get his son a visa for Cambodia. “This was for the first time that I and my father heard about the country,” Riyasat said, adding that the man told his father that his son would get a job at a call center where he would be paid $1,200 to $1,500 every month.
The youth informed that he gave close to Rs600,000 to that man, and the very next day he gave him visa. “All my family members were happy,” he added.
Riyasat said that after he reached Cambodian capital, he was quite happy and had no feeling that there was something fishy in it.
He told that finally when he reached the destination, he found out that it was a hilly area with thick forests. “Finally, I arrived at a building which was spreading of thousands of acres,” he revealed.
The youth went on to say that when he was handed a document at that building, it was written on it, “You have been sold for your entire life for Rs3.4 million.”
He said that this dropped like a bombshell on him. “And when I cried and requested the Chinese dealing with me that I want to go back, they laughed it off. They even snatched my cellphone.”
They told me to give them $10,000 to secure his freedom.
Riyasat said there were other Pakistanis as well like him.
“I was given electric shocks on the very first day following which I surrendered to them and stopped shouting,” he elaborated.
He said that other Pakistanis, who were present there, told him about the barbarism of those who were holding them hostage.
