After directives from Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, a 150-year-old banyan tree at Qasr-i-Naz, which collapsed due to heavy rains and strong winds, was restored, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The gardener of the tree, Nisar Ahmad Awan, who has been performing his duty for the security of the tree for the last forty years, said that two cranes were used for shifting the tree from one place to another.
The chief minister has instructed the secretary of the forest department to immediately begin restoration work.
CM Shah said centuries-old trees are not only cultural heritage but also vital for protecting the environment.
Nisar Ahmad Awan expressed the hope that after watering the tree, it will again grow with the same momentum.
