The proceedings of the Toshakhana-II case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were held inside Adiala Jail on Tuesday, 24NewsHD TV reported.
During the hearing, significant progress was made in recording and cross-examining witnesses, though the matter was ultimately adjourned until tomorrow.
The court summoned prosecution witness customs appraiser Sana Javed for the next hearing, while defence counsel Qousain Faisal completed his cross-examination of Aftab Hussain, the Assistant Director of NAB, who was the eleventh witness in the case.
The statement of the twelfth witness, Customs Appraiser Rabia Samad, was also recorded.
Meanwhile, the testimony of the thirteenth witness, NAB UDC Hasnain Murtaza, was deemed unnecessary and was therefore dropped.
In total, statements of twelve witnesses have been recorded so far, with cross-examinations completed on eleven of them.
The court proceedings, however, witnessed an interruption when conducted by Special Judge Central, Shah Rukh Arjumand reprimanded PTI founder’s lawyer, Qousain Faisal, for arriving late.
The judge expressed displeasure, noting that the court session began at 10 a.m. but the defence counsel only arrived at 2 p.m.
“You are the lawyer of a former Prime Minister. Ensure punctuality in the future,” the judge directed sternly, instructing him to appear on time for upcoming hearings.
During the hearing, both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi were present in court.
The PTI founder’s three sisters, along with Bushra Bibi’s sister-in-law and daughter, were also in attendance.
Several notable political figures and lawyers, including Barrister Gohar, Salman Akram Raja, and Ali Zafar, were present on the occasion.
PTI leaders such as Zaheer Abbas Chaudhry, Usman Gul, Khalid Yousaf, Tabish Farooq, and Mubashir Maqsood Awan were also present in the courtroom.
The next hearing of the Toshakhana II case will resume tomorrow at Adiala Jail, where further cross-examination of prosecution witnesses is expected.
