The Islamabad High Court has reserved its verdict on the petitions to form a judicial commission to investigate the murder of Arshad Sharif, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Justice Inam Amin Minhas reserved the verdict after hearing the petitions of journalist Hamid Mir and Arshad Sharif’s wife.
During the hearing, Hamid Mir appeared in the court along with his lawyer, Barrister Shoaib Razak.
The lawyer took the position that a commission should be formed to find out the facts of Arshad Sharif’s murder and send it to Kenya, just like the Supreme Court formed the commission after the attack on Hamid Mir.
The lawyer said that a transparent investigation is necessary in Arshad Sharif’s case so that 25 years of journalistic services can be acknowledged.
During the hearing, the DIG of Punjab Police said that an FIR has been registered, challans have been collected, seven reports have been submitted to the Supreme Court and two accused have been declared absconders; however, the investigation is delayed due to the situation in Kenya.
