A young man climbed an under-construction high-tension electricity tower after his family refused to approve his love marriage, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to Indian media, the dramatic event took place in Beawar, Ajmer, where the youth’s desperate act reminded onlookers of scenes from the classic Hindi Bollywood film Sholay, in which a character climbs a tower to stage a protest.
Refusing to come down until his family agreed to his marriage, the young man created a tense and emotional spectacle that quickly drew public attention.
According to reports, the situation escalated when repeated pleas from the family failed to convince him, forcing the police to intervene.
Law enforcement officials eventually managed to talk the youth into climbing down safely, preventing what could have been a dangerous outcome.
Local media highlighted that this is not the first such case in India, as incidents of young men and women taking extreme steps when their families oppose their marriages have become increasingly common in recent years.
