PDMA issues report regarding losses in rain-affected areas in KP

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa issued a detailed report about losses in rain-affected areas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The PDMA report revealed that 237 people were dead in flood-hit areas of district Buner. 
According to the report, 406 people lost their lives and 245 became seriously injured in rain-related incident in affected areas, out of which 131 men, 167 women, and 108 children died.
As many as 2810 houses were destroyed, out of which 674 houses were completely destroyed and 2136 houses were partially damaged.
PDMA directed the district administration to expedite relief and rescue operations in rain-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The rain-related incidents occurred in different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Swat, Buner, Bajour, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Batgaram, Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan), and Swabi.
The Director General of PDMA has instructed all relevant agencies to speed up relief operations, provide immediate assistance to the victims, and restore access to blocked roads and routes leading to tourist destinations as quickly as possible.
PDMA, along with relevant departments, relief teams, district administrations, and Rescue 1122, remains in constant coordination and is closely monitoring the situation.
The authority has urged the public to stay informed about weather conditions, avoid unnecessary travel, and in case of any emergency, contact the free helpline at 1700 immediately.
