The Punjab government has announced that graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree will receive a monthly stipend during their mandatory one-year internship, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Tuesday.
According to official directives, the stipend will be equivalent to the basic salary of a charge nurse and will be provided through the Health Foundation. The initiative aims to ensure financial support for nursing graduates as they undergo practical training in hospitals.
The government has decided that teaching hospitals will give first priority for internship placements to graduates of their affiliated government nursing colleges. However, vacant seats may also be offered to graduates from other government institutions.
The one-year internship, which will be carried out across different hospital departments, has been declared mandatory to strengthen the practical training and professional readiness of nursing graduates.
