A woman from West Virginia, United States, has chosen an unusual yet deeply emotional way to keep the memory of her late husband alive—by preserving and framing the tattooed skin from his arm after his death, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
Thirty-five-year-old Angelica Radiowski lost her husband, T.J., earlier this year in a sudden tragedy.
While many people hold on to photographs, keepsakes, or memory boxes to remember their loved ones, Angelica decided to safeguard a unique part of her husband’s identity—his tattoo.
The tattoo in question was of a Pittsburgh Steelers football helmet, T.J.’s very first large tattoo, and a design especially cherished by the couple’s 10-year-old son, Preston.
At Preston’s request, this particular tattooed section of skin was chosen to be turned into a lasting memorial.
The preservation was carried out by an Ohio-based company, Save My Ink Forever, which specializes in saving tattooed skin as keepsakes.
The company carefully removed, treated, and preserved the tattooed portion from T.J.’s body.
After about 90 days, it was returned to Angelica encased in a frame made of glass and wood.
Angelica described the framed tattoo as more meaningful than a picture, explaining that holding it makes her and her son feel closer to T.J.
“It’s not just an image, it’s real,” she said. “When we want to feel that he’s near, we hold the frame, and it has a far greater impact than any photograph ever could.”
Her story has drawn both sympathy and curiosity, highlighting the unique ways people cope with grief and keep the memory of loved ones alive.
