Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Syed Mustafa Kamal has said that a heartrending tragedy has occurred at PIMS Hospital today, there is no lame excuse, adding that he was ready to initiative accountability from himself.
Talking to media outside PIMS Hospital, Mustafa Kamal made it clear that the government will not spare the responsible elements. Mustafa Kamal expressed condolences with the victim families. Health Minister said he will present himself before Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for accountability.
Kamal said that AC wire sparked at 6:38am and doctors rushed to seek help at 6:39am in the morning. He claimed that everything was clear in the CCTV footage. The oxygen caught fire; flames were visible in all the lines.
Kamal said that it was the power of Prime Minister to remove or restore Secretary Health. He claimed that fire safety tools were used to extinguish fire.
He claimed that PIMS hospital was prepared for two to three thousand daily visits of the patients but eight thousands patients were arriving daily in the hospital.
Kamal said more beds were added in the hospital. Kamal said that guards were deputed on Nursery Wards to curb child theft cases.
During the press conference, victim families shouted slogans against the government.
