Despite an invitation extended by former president Asif Ali Zardari, the JUI-F chief will not attend the rally scheduled for December 27 (tomorrow) at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday, as a delegation headed by its secretary-general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri is going to represent the party.

Earlier, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had invited Maulana Fazlur Rehman just like all the other heads of PDM component parties, but later reports emerged that a delegation, not the JUI-F chief himself, would participate in the event.

It prompted Zardari to contact Fazl and personally invite him for the rally to be organised in connection with the 12th martyrdom anniversary of former premier Benazir Bhutto who was martyred in Rawalpindi in 2008.

During the telephonic conversation, Zardari and Fazl also discussed the overall political situation in the country. The contact was made amid media reports that there are some differences between the PPP and other PDM parties over the issue of the resignations.

On the other hand, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz, BNP-M head Akhtar Mengal, PkMAP chief Mehmood Achakzai, Aftab Sherpao of QWP, National Party’s Dr Abdul Malik and others have confirmed their participation.

In this connection, PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz left Lahore on Saturday afternoon via motorway for Sukkur, but not before again saying that Muhammad Ali Durrani wasn’t the first one to convey a message about initiating dialogue as different sources like government ministers had been doing the same in recent weeks.

There won’t be any talks with or NRO for the bogus government, she made it clear a day after a similar statement yesterday by her and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Rubbishing the reports and the PTI claims about differences in the PDM ranks, she told reporters said there was complete consensus on basic points [including no talks or NRO] and everyone believed that the fake government would have to go.

When asked about the reports that the PML-N lawmakers are not ready to tender their resignations, she firmly refuted such claims and revealed that she had already received resignations from 159 Punjab Assembly members out of a total of 160 as well as 95 percent of the MNAs.

The deadline is December 31, she reminded the reporter and said the only Punjab MPA unable to send her resignation so far was due to some personal reasons.

“People know everything,” Maryam and mentioned that the attempt to divide the JUI-F had backfired. Suddenly, unknown people are promoted in opposition parties and even given unlimited time by media, she remarked.
