PM hints at increasing power tariff, predicts forward blocks in opp

Prime Minister Imran Khan has hinted at further increasing the electricity rate and to go again for another IMF plan, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel Saturday.

While answering a question put by 24News during an interaction with the reporters in Chakwal, Prime Minister Khan said there is Rs3 per unit difference between the cost of the electricity and the tariff.

PM Khan said if they do not increase the prices of electricity, the circular debt will continue to balloon.

Putting the blame on the unjustified and expensive power agreements, the premier said that he does not want to increase the electricity prices but is forced to do so.

Regarding PDM’s threats of the resignations, Prime Minister Khan predicted that soon forward blocks would emerge among the ranks of the PDM parties and an MNA or MPA who has spent Rs100million to come into the assemblies will comply with the PDM’s demand of resignations.

Prime Minister said Pakistan is a country in the sub-continent, which is the producing the most expensive electricity.

He said he will address the nation soon on the electricity issue and the government is also looking into the agreements signed with the IPPs.

Taking a jab at the opposition, Prime Minister said Fazlur Rehman is a 12th man in the politics and all the opposition parties are trying to hoodwink the masses.

He said the whole nation knows that these people (opposition) have been oppressing the masses for the last 30 years.

He said nobody would resign on the whims of Fazlur Rehman.

He said the leaders are to give an answer for their corruption but to save their skins they are asking for the sacrifice of their MPs.

PM Khan said Fazl has made assets worth billions despite having no source of income.

He said whoever takes the people of Pakistan as a fool, no one can be a bigger fool than him.
