The British High Commission has issued a formal response to a letter of protest sent by Pakistan to the acting British High Commissioner, stressing the independence of the United Kingdom’s law enforcement authorities.

In a statement released by a spokesperson, the High Commission said that British police and prosecutors operate independently of the government and are not influenced by political considerations. The spokesperson emphasized that decisions related to law enforcement are taken solely by the relevant authorities in accordance with UK law.

The statement added that if a foreign government believes a crime has been committed in the United Kingdom, it should submit all relevant evidence to its UK police liaison officer. Any material that appears to breach UK law would then be reviewed by the police and could lead to a criminal investigation.

The response underscores the UK’s position on the separation between government and law enforcement, as well as established procedures for addressing concerns raised by foreign governments through legal and institutional channels.
