A 20-year-old college student died by suicide after allegedly losing a large sum of money through online gambling in India’s Rangareddy district, 24NewsHD TV reported.
According to Indian media reports, the student, identified as Vikram, was enrolled in a local college and had been using an online gambling application called ‘Fun In Exchange’ without the knowledge of his parents.
Media sources said Vikram lost approximately Indian Rs100,000 while gambling on the app.
The matter came to light when his father discovered the financial loss and reprimanded him.
Following the confrontation, Vikram reportedly left home and went to a nearby field, where he consumed pesticide.
Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors attempted to save his life.
However, he could not survive.
On the recommendation of medical staff, Vikram’s parents later donated his corneas, allowing his death to bring sight to others in need.
