The protest against manipulation of the election results and the alleged rigging by a four parties’ alliance ended on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-Mengal), Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), National Party and Hazara Democratic Party staged a sit-in in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Quetta about seventeen days.
The alliance was demanding release of election results as per Form 45. Despite their efforts, their complaints went unheard.
Their protest made the markets closed, trade routes disrupted, and transportation severely impacted.
Passengers traveling between Quetta and Karachi find themselves stranded on blocked highways.
Ghulam Nabi Marri, a leader of the BNP-Mengal, expressed frustration at the lack of attention to their concerns.
He vowed to expand the protest across the province, asserting that rallies, sit-ins, and protests would continue until their demands were met.
The situation has paralysed Balochistan, with protesters blocking highways and shutting down cities.
The protesting parties urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to order a recount in constituencies where massive rigging is alleged to have occurred. The Baloch people are demanding electoral justice and transparency, they added.
