Basant safety rods for bikers to cost govt Rs110 million

Distribution of 10,00,000 safety rods among motorcyclists for the Basant Festival, continuing at 100 safe points in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

An amount of over Rs110 million was spent on the safety rods as the Lahore City is distributed in three zones for the Basant Festival.

As many as 48 areas of Walled Lahore were declared as Red Zones, 32 areas of Ichhra declared as Yellow Zones and 20 areas of Liberty declared as Green Zones.

About 100 road safety camps are established on all roads in these zones. District administration, traffic, and rescue teams will perform their duties in these camps.

No motorcycle or loader rickshaw will be allowed without a helmet. Free shuttle service will be available for intercity rides from Muridke, Shariqpur, Raiwind, Manga Manda to Thokar Niaz Baig, and Kasur to Chungi Amar Sidhu.

The Punjab government will provide 695 buses for a free shuttle service in Lahore.
