In the light of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi's recent visit to China, Interior Ministry has formed a 9-member joint working group under the chair of Federal Secretary Interior, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Joint Working Group has been established to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination between Pakistan and China. The working group will resolve issues of mutual interest through regular consultations.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, DG FIA, DG Anti-Narcotics Force and Commandant National Police Academy and Commandant Federal Constabulary are members of the Working Group. IG Islamabad, Chairman CDA and Director of the Minister for International Cooperation are part of the Group.
The working group will review progress on agreed measures. The working group has also been tasked with identifying new areas of cooperation.
During visit to China on January 7, Naqvi held meeting with Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong.
Naqvi and Wang had agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination, strengthen exchanges at all levels, and crack down on terrorism as well as on telecommunications and online fraud.
He added that China is willing to work with Pakistan to deepen cooperation in personnel, projects, institution security and law enforcement capacity building, so as to jointly tackle risks and challenges of all kinds, uphold the two countries' national security and social stability, and contribute to building an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.
Naqvi said Pakistan is ready to deepen law enforcement and security cooperation with China, and will take further measures to protect the safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had said that a special protection unit was being set up in Islamabad for the security of Chinese nationals.
According to a press release issued by the interior ministry, Naqvi made the remarks as he met China’s Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong in Beijing.
The two met at the headquarters of China’s Ministry of Public Security, where Naqvi received a warm welcome, the interior ministry said.
During the meeting, the leaders agreed to develop a joint and rapid response system against terrorism, including expanding training programs aimed at enhancing police capacity, it added.
