Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan said on Monday that returning from injury had been challenging, but he is pleased to be back in the national squad ahead of the World Cup, 24NewsHD TV reported.

“Rehabilitation is the hardest part for anyone coming back from injury. Being back in the team brings great happiness,” Shadab told reporters.

The 26-year-old, who underwent major surgery before a lengthy rehabilitation, acknowledged the pressure that comes with international cricket.

“When you don’t perform, there is criticism. Fans expect good performances, and bigger players face even more scrutiny,” he added, praising captain  for hard work and improving form.

Shadab said Pakistan’s preparation for the World Cup is ongoing. “Pitches in Lahore won’t be exactly like Sri Lanka, but we are trying to prepare fully. Every team has its strengths, so results can’t be predicted,” he said, adding that the side would adapt to conditions if high scores are posted.

He also stressed that consistent performances, especially in bowling, are key to maintaining a place in the team.

“I know that if I bowl well, I will stay in the squad,” he said.

Recent performances, Shadab said, have been encouraging. “We hope to perform well in the World Cup based on conditions and our preparation,” he concluded.
