Prime Minister Imran Khan said Monday the more trees you planted the more healthy impact they had on the environment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a function held in Islamabad in connection with the 10 billion plantation campaign, he said he had issued directives to the commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure not a single space was left in cities without a tree.
PM Imran further said that trees reduced pollution and became a cause for rainfall. “Pollution has emerged as a serious issue in big cities like Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, and others,” he said, and added, “The reason why we (Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government) want more and more trees in the country is that we want to leave a better Pakistan for our posterity.”
The prime minister added that the entire world had acknowledged that the PTI government’s 10 billion tree plantation programme was genuine.
