Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Tuesday said that the Supreme Court decision has dealt a blow to those who have expectations to seek justice from courts.

He also reiterated his stance that no compromise will be made on the supremacy of the Constitution and Parliament.

Taking to Twitter, PM Shehbaz wrote that the constitution has delegated state powers to parliament, administration and judiciary.

He said the constitution has mandated all the institutions to work within the specified limits and no institution can interfere with the authority of another.

“There will be no compromise on the supremacy of the Constitution and Parliament,” he wrote.

His tweet came after a three-member Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial struck down Punjab Assembly’s deputy speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari’s ruling and declared election of Hamza Shehbaz as illegal while instating Pervaiz Elahi as new Punjab chief minister.

The prime minister said that for the reputation of the judiciary and the quality of justice, a full court should have been formed so that justice would not only be done but also be seen to be done.

He said the judicial decision has dealt a blow to the expectations of the legal community, citizens, the media and the people for getting justice.
