The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has accepted the government's request to increase the electricity tariff.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the authority gave the go-ahead to the government to increase the electricity tariff by Rs 7.50 per unit.
It sent the decision to the federal government for notification. However, the lifeline customers will be exempted from the increase.
The federal government made a request to Nepra for an increase in the basic price.
The price hike has been proposed to be implemented from July 1.
