Shortly after a sessions court ordered his release, former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan was re-arrested in Mardan on Tuesday for the eighth time since protests took place in the wake of party chief Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9.

Ali Muhammad was arrested again under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after being released from Mardan Jail.

Earlier in the day, the District and Sessions Court of Mardan granted bail to PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan and ordered his release.

Judge Mulla Wazir heard the bail application of former state minister Ali Muhammad Khan. Nadeem Shah Advocate appeared on behalf of Ali Muhammad Khan in the court.

Mardan Sessions Court ordered the PTI leader’s release in the corruption case and instructed authorities to set him free if he was not implicated in any other case.

The court, passing judgment on the arguments of Ali’s counsel, accepted the bail application of the accused and ordered him to submit two surety bonds of Rs 2 lakh each.

A team of lawyers reached the jail for the release of the PTI leader.

However, Khan was arrested soon after his release under Maintenance of Public Order. Orders were issued by the district commissioner.

Ali Muhammad Khan was in jail for a month on charges of corruption in development projects.
