Motorway Police seized a non-customs paid (NCP) Daihatsu Mira worth Rs3 million in a major operation on M-5, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the spokesperson of Motorway Police Central Region, Syed Imran Ahmed, the ITS system identified a suspicious vehicle for a seatbelt violation at Head Malkani near Zahir Pir, on which the Motorway Police took immediate action and stopped the vehicle.

During checking, Shayan Ahmed Tareen, a resident of Quetta, could not produce the ownership or legal documents of the vehicle, while the number plate on the vehicle was also found to be fake during the search.

According to the spokesperson, customs officials were immediately summoned to the spot, who, after verification, declared the Daihatsu Mira a non-customs paid (NCP) vehicle.

Later, the Motorway Police handed over the vehicle along with the driver to the customs authorities for further legal action.

Motorway Police said that effective operations are underway against law-breaking elements on national highways and motorways with the help of the modern ITS system.
