Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has called for free, fair, and transparent elections in Mirpur, urging the Election Commission to closely monitor the electoral process and ensure that voters can exercise their democratic rights without interference, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.
Speaking to the media in Mirpur ahead of the elections, Memon said the people of Mirpur would decide the future of their division, while the people of Kashmir alone have the right to determine the future of Kashmir.
The minister alleged that some political parties had previously disrespected the people of Kashmir but were now seeking their support.
He also questioned the presence of federal ministers in the region, saying they should focus on their official responsibilities instead of taking part in election-related activities.
Memon said the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) delegation arrived in Mirpur only after the election campaign had officially ended to ensure that no federal minister could influence the electoral process.
He also expressed concern over the movement of buses and trucks in the area a day before polling, claiming such activity should be examined by the Election Commission.
He alleged that these vehicles were being used in an attempt to influence voters. Still, he maintained that the people of Mirpur are politically aware and would not be swayed by such tactics.
Expressing confidence in his party's prospects, Memon said the people of Mirpur would cast their votes in favour of the Pakistan Peoples Party.
