Three children of a family drowned in accumulated rainwater after a breach in the embankment of Nala Shet in Pathan Colony, Ferozwala, in a tragic incident on Sunday.
According to initial reports, the breach caused rainwater to inundate the village, with water levels reaching between five and 10 feet in several areas.
The victims, identified as Daniyal, Noman and Burhan, were between 10 and 15 years of age.
Reports said the three children drowned while bathing in the rainwater that had accumulated in the area following the flooding.
Local residents rushed to rescue the children and transported them to a nearby hospital in critical condition using their own means. However, they could not be saved.
The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, highlighting the dangers posed by stagnant floodwater following heavy rainfall.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the breach of the embankment.
