Two WASA workers died while cleaning a main sewer line near the old Lorry Stand in Vehari, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to rescue officials, the two workers entered the manhole with only a rope and without proper safety equipment.
During the operation the rope slipped causing both to fall into the sewer resultantly they died of suffocation. The victims were residents of Khanewal district.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies and shifted them to the District Headquarters Hospital for legal formalities.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
