Pakistani activist Bushra Mahnoor has won the Commonwealth Youth Award for Asia, becoming the fourth Pakistani and the second Pakistani woman to receive the honour.
The award celebrates young people who are making a positive impact in their communities.
Bushra is the founder of Mahwari Justice, an organisation working to improve menstrual health and period education in Pakistan.
She started the initiative in 2022 after the devastating floods by distributing menstrual hygiene kits to women and girls in affected areas. Since then, the organisation has expanded its work by raising awareness about menstrual health and improving access to essential resources.
As the Asia regional award winner, Bushra will receive a £3,000 grant to support the work of Mahwari Justice. Her achievement is being celebrated as an important step forward for menstrual health awareness and women's empowerment in Pakistan.
In the award photos, Bushra can be seen proudly holding her Commonwealth Youth Award trophy and certificate while posing in front of the Commonwealth Youth Programme poster.
