The federal government has increased the petroleum levy on petrol and high-speed diesel while reducing the price of kerosene oil by Rs6.85 per litre, according to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).
The petroleum levy on high-speed diesel has been increased by Rs6.57 per litre, taking it from Rs72.97 to Rs79.54 per litre.
The levy on petrol has also been raised by 39 paisas per litre, increasing from Rs66.25 to Rs66.64 per litre.
Meanwhile, the petroleum levy on kerosene has been left unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre.
Separately, OGRA announced a reduction of Rs6.85 per litre in the price of kerosene oil. Under the revised rates, the price of kerosene has been reduced from Rs233.90 to Rs227.05 per litre.
According to the notification, the revised kerosene price came into effect from midnight today.
The changes in the petroleum levy are expected to increase government revenue, while the reduction in kerosene prices is likely to provide relief to consumers who rely on the fuel for household and commercial use.
