President, PM vow to eradicate drug abuse, illicit trafficking in Pakistan

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In their separate messages on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking being observed today, they called for a national effort to address the challenge of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.

The President emphasized the need for strengthening prevention, education, awareness and rehabilitation.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan remains steadfast and fully committed to addressing all threats associated with narcotic drugs.

Shehbaz Sharif said the government continued to strengthen national capacities, enhance institutional coordination and expand cooperation with international partners to eliminate drug trafficking.
