Over 150,000 illegal Afghans living in Punjab have been repatriated to their home country so far as the operation by the Foreign National Security Cell of the Punjab Home Department continues, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
As many as 2,677 residential areas and 1,177 markets in the province have been searched so far; 468 FIRs have been registered in one month, and 591 Afghans have been sent to jails.
There are 36 holding centers, which house 259 Afghans.
On the other hand, Afghan nationals, who have been issued visas by Pakistan, are allowed to do legal businesses and jobs.
Over 2.1 million Afghans, who had been living in Pakistan illegally, have been sent back to Afghanistan till this date.
During the closure of the Torkham border crossing, 936 Afghans were deported via the Chaman border crossing.
However, Torkham border crossing will be reopened today.
The Punjab government has appealed to people to cooperate with it so that the Afghans could be sent to their homeland.
