Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Thursday that the entire world acknowledged diplomatic efforts being made by Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to defuse tensions in the Gulf, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he said that India was quite perturbed over these efforts.

Acknowledging that criticism was the right of all and sundry, the minister said that this did not mean putting the country’s prestige and honour at stake. “No political party or a leader is above national interest,” Tarar said, adding that national interest was supreme.

He made it clear that insulting the country only because of political differences could not be condoned. “Propaganda against Pakistan in the present circumstances is simply intolerable,” he said, adding those saying things against the country should be ashamed of themselves.

The minister said that during the PTI government, the country was on the brink of default. “On the contrary, under the present government, Pakistan is progressing and the entire world has acknowledged its economic growth. “Today, the country’s exports are increasing,” Tarar claimed.

He went on to say that the PTI leaders did not improve their behaviour and in 2024 called for snatching GSP Plus status from Pakistan. “The purpose was to cause losses to the exporters,” he said.

He accused the PTI leaders of conspiring against the country in connivance with RAW agents. “But whatever you do, you cannot cause damage to Pakistan,” the minister said.

He also claimed that he had never come across any criticism of Israel by PTI leaders.
