The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commenced in Lahore on Thursday with an opening ceremony at the Gaddafi Stadium.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif attended the opening ceremony, where she was received by Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The chief minister was introduced to the owners of the teams participating in PSL 11 and extended her best wishes to all franchises. She also met players from the opening match teams, Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars.
Legendary cricketer Wasim Akram brought the PSL 11 trophy onto the field, while the national anthem of Pakistan was played ahead of the opening fixture.
Mohsin Naqvi also conveyed his good wishes to all participating teams at the start of the tournament.
Maryam Nawaz and Mohsin Naqvi later watched the opening match from the stands.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, along with provincial ministers Salman Rafique and Faisal Ayub Khokhar, Adviser Ali Dar, the chief secretary, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed, PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
