An Australian woman has left radio listeners speechless after sharing the shocking story of how her fairytale wedding ended in heartbreak.
Calling into Nova's Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle, Kylie from Melbourne revealed that her groom mysteriously vanished before their wedding reception had even begun and months later, she discovered he had been cheating on her with her own cousin.
“I had a really short marriage. It wasn't even 24 hours,” Kylie shared. “We got married and had a beautiful wedding. And he was gone for the reception.”
The couple had been together for six years and appeared to have a promising future. Their wedding ceremony was picture-perfect, complete with professional photos and joyful guests. But the groom’s sudden disappearance three hours after the vows left Kylie confused and heartbroken.
“He was beautiful during the photoshoot, he was the love of my life,” she said. “And then he just disappeared. I didn’t hear from him for months.”
Despite his absence, Kylie tried to maintain normalcy, hosting the reception alone while keeping guests in the dark. “Everyone was fine to stay and party the whole night but I went back to my room by myself,” she said.
The heartbreak deepened when well-meaning relatives began calling to ask about the honeymoon and married life. But the most painful blow came later, when Kylie learned the groom had been cheating on her with her own cousin.
“He’s with my cousin now … he was cheating on me with her,” she revealed. “I don’t see him or my cousin. That would be really awkward.”
Though the betrayal was devastating, Kylie has since found some humour in the situation. “My kids think it’s hilarious … it’s brought up all the time,” she laughed, adding that she never remarried.
