The MQM-P has demanded the allocation of funds for Karachi’s Orangi Town in the Sindh budget for the next financial year, 2026-27, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
In a letter to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, member of the provincial assembly (MPA) Syed Ijazul Haq has said that no funds had been allocated for PS-121 in the last budget. “This is despite the fact that constituency is the largest in Karachi in terms of population, and is still without basic amenities,” he has said, and added that there is an acute shortage of water in Orangi Town where sewerage lines are broken, creating health issues for the residents.
Similarly, the MPA has said there are few playgrounds for children and youth in the area. “There is dearth of sports facilities in the area and the condition of public transport is also pathetic.”
He has said that the people of Orangi Town are taxpayers and being the citizens of the country are entitled to facilities at par with their compatriots. “In view of these facts, I request you to announce a special development package for the area in the upcoming budget.”
