Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, during which the two leaders exchanged greetings and discussed bilateral cooperation and regional peace efforts.
According to an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eid greetings to the Turkish leadership and the people of Türkiye, while President Erdogan reciprocated the wishes warmly.
Recalling their recent interactions, particularly their meeting in Antalya in April, the two leaders reaffirmed that the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye had grown even stronger.
The leaders agreed to ensure swift implementation of key decisions taken during recent high-level engagements, with particular emphasis on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade and investment.
Regional peace and stability also came under discussion during the conversation. Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked President Erdogan for Türkiye’s consistent support for the Pakistan-led peace initiative in the region.
Both leaders agreed to continue close coordination and cooperation to promote peace, dialogue, stability and de-escalation efforts in the region.
During the call, President Erdogan also expressed deep sorrow over the May 24 train bombing incident in Balochistan and conveyed solidarity with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
The Turkish president assured that Türkiye would continue to stand by Pakistan against terrorism, while Prime Minister Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue combating all forms of terrorism.
