The start of Francolin hunting season in Punjab was announced on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The season will consist of three periods:
The first period will start from December 1, 2025 and will last until February 15, 2026; the second period will begin on December 14, 2025 and will last until February 15, 2026, while the third period will kick off on January 10, 2026 and will last until February 15, 2026.
The hunting of the bird will only be allowed on Sunday and only to those having licensed weapons.
Hunting has been permitted on grounds especially developed for that purpose and at open spaces.
On the other hand, the auction of permits for Salt Range Hunting Ground will begin on December 8 and will be for three days.
Similarly, the auction of permits for Lahore’s Safari Zoo will get underway on December 2 and will also be for three days.
Hunting at Cholistan and Chinkara Public Wildlife Reserves will be possible from January 10, 2026 and would last until February 15, 2026.
There will be a ban on the use of automatic weapons, weapons meant for the forces, silencer guns, drones and electronic gadgets during hunting.
Similarly, the use of air guns has also been prohibited.
It has been made obligatory on all hunters to abide by these rules.
