Electricity rates increase: NEPRA to hear petition on Nov 6

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear a petition filed by power distribution companies seeking an increase in electricity charges across the country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to the details, the power distribution companies filed a petition to recover Rs8.41 billion from the consumers.

The NEPRA will take the final decision regarding an increase in electricity charges during the first quarter of the current fiscal year under the head of fuel adjustment charges.

In the petition, the power distribution company requested for recovery of Rs 21.702 billion in capacity charges.

A reduction of Rs 3.978 billion has been requested for operations and maintenance. The increase came into effect from July to September 2025, including K-Electric.

The electricity charges were decreased by Rs 1.89 per unit during the previous fiscal year. The increase will come into effect from August to October 2025.
