Former federal minister Humayun Akhtar Khan has said that the federal government's decision to set a support price of wheat at Rs 3,500 per maund is welcome step, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Humayun Akhtar was addressing a public gathering in NA 97. He urged the Punjab government to play its role so that the difficulties of the farmers can be reduced.
Humayun Akhtar said the Punjab government should approve a comprehensive plan for the construction and development of the constituency, especially for roads and the provision of clean water.
He lamented that NA 97 was the most backward region of Punjab. He said some people here have been in politics for decades but they have not taken any steps for the development of the region and the improvement of the lives of the people.
Humayun Akhtar said his struggle was not against any nation but against those people who claim to wear the turban of the region but in practice they have not rendered any service here. Humayun Akhtar said that “we will build and develop one village, one chak, one chak, we will change the destiny of this area.”
Humayun Akhtar said, “We are raising our voice to every government forum to solve the problems of the constituency, we have to make arrangements for education and employment for the youth, there should be facilities for farmers, they should get loans so that they can convert their tube wells to solar”.
