Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has said that Islamabad Tehran Istanbul train service will be restored on December 31, 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Addressing a press conference at Railways Headquarters Lahore on Sunday, Abbasi said 400 kilometers of new track will be built for Balochistan Reko Diq project. The total lenght of track is 884 kilometers.
He said for Rohri-Karachi 500 kilometers track, negotiations were underway with the World Bank for a two billion dollar contract.
Abbasi claimed that Rohri-Karachi track was expected to be completed by July 2026. Hanif Abbasi said talks were underway to improve Rohri track and talks continue on ML-2 project.
He said Karachi station was bigger than Lahore. “We are asking the Prime Minister for November 7 to inaugurate the Shalimar Express”, said Hanif Abbasi.
