The sugar price fell by Rs3 to Rs145 per kg in Karachi’s wholesale market as a result of the heavy-handed crackdown on the hoarders and profiteers, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Similarly, the price of a 50kg sugar sack fell by Rs100 to Rs7,250.
While commenting on the government’s crackdown on the sugar mafia, the shopkeepers said that people would get more relief if the action against the smugglers continued.
“The country was losing money due to smuggling. The smugglers should be brought to their logical end,” they demanded.
