Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has finally spoken out on the ban of his film Sardaar Ji 3 in India, calling the decision ironic and unfair.
An entertainment portal shared a clip showing Dosanjh pointing out that despite ongoing political tensions, India and Pakistan continue to play cricket together, yet his film was barred simply for being a joint project with Pakistani artists.
“If sports can bring both countries to the same ground, why not art?” he asked.
He clarified that Sardaar Ji 3 was completed before the Pahalgam attacks, distancing the film’s production from the tragic incident.
He reaffirmed his commitment to truth, saying he stood by the project and its message.
The film, which was set to release worldwide on June 27, 2025, stars Diljit Dosanjh alongside Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in a lead role.
It marks the third instalment in the popular Sardaar Ji franchise, known for blending comedy, action, and fantasy with Punjabi cultural flavour.
While the first two films (Sardaar Ji in 2015 and Sardaar Ji 2 in 2016) were box-office hits in India and overseas, the third part has faced backlash due to its cross-border casting.
Indian film associations, including FWICE and the All India Cine Workers Association, urged the censor board not to clear the film, leading to its withdrawal from Indian cinemas.
Despite the ban in India, Sardaar Ji 3 continues to enjoy strong buzz internationally. The film’s overseas release went ahead as planned, drawing attention not only for its star-studded cast but also for the controversy surrounding its political roadblocks.
