Leading international examination board OxfordAQA has announced the introduction of three new compulsory subjects in the curriculum in Pakistan.

The introduction of OxfordAQA International GCSE Islamic Studies, OxfordAQA International GCSE Pakistan Studies and OxfordAQA International GCSE Urdu has been announced.

This initiative is an important step towards providing Pakistani students with modern and locally relevant education in preparation for International GCSE examinations, said the Oxford Administration. The aim of the new curriculum is to effectively promote critical thinking, analytical skills and examination preparation.

The curriculum, developed in accordance with OxfordAQA’s international standards, presents Pakistan’s history, geography, Islamic beliefs and traditions and Urdu language and literature in a comprehensive manner.

The curriculum content has been developed in the context of global development in which independent research and collective collaboration are emphasized so that students can face educational challenges as well as become responsible citizens and play a positive role in the real world.
