A student of the Government College University (GCU) Faisalabad was found dead in a hostel near the campus, in what police say appears to be a case of suicide.
The deceased, identified as Amjad, a resident of Jhang, was enrolled in the mass communication department and had been living in private hostel accommodation close to the university.
According to police, Amjad allegedly ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling using a bedsheet. Authorities said the exact reasons behind the incident have not yet been determined.
Officials from Jhang Bazaar Police stated that the student was also involved in an online business, and preliminary assessments suggest that financial losses may have contributed to the incident. However, they added that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the facts.
After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family for burial.
The incident has raised concerns among students and faculty, with calls for greater awareness and support systems to address mental health and financial pressures faced by young people.
