Lightning strikes killed 14 people in seven districts of Bangladesh yesterday, according to the data released on Monday.
Of these, five people died in Gaibandha, two in Sirajganj, two in Jamalpur, two in Thakurgaon, one in Bogra, one in Natore and one in Panchagarh in Bangladesh. Several people were also injured during these incidents.
The deputy commissioners of various districts of Bangladesh have confirmed the incidents.
In addition, two female students were injured in a lightning strike at the Aparajeyo Bangla of Dhaka University. They were taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in an unconscious state on Sunday night.
They were identified as Sufia Akhter (22) and Farah Akhter (22) who are students of East West University in the capital, Dhaka.
According to Dhaka Medical College Hospital sources, two students injured in a lightning strike at Dhaka University have been admitted to the emergency department.
