In a major incident of daylight robbery, robbers looted Rs600 million from a petrol pump owner in Sukkur and fled under the cover of aerial firing, police said on Monday.
According to officials, the incident occurred near City Point Bypass in the limits of the Airport Police Station, where motorcycle-borne assailants intercepted the petrol pump owner, identified as Niaz Bugti.
Police said the robbers snatched Rs600 million and resorted to firing when resistance was offered. As a result, two individuals, including the owner and another man identified as Waris Memon, sustained serious injuries.
Both injured persons were shifted to a private hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene after being informed of the robbery and launched a search operation to apprehend the robbers. Officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to trace and arrest those involved.
The brazen nature of the robbery in broad daylight has raised concerns about law and order in the area.
